MAJOR PROGRESS UPDATE!

TIME FOR A MAJOR PROGRESS UPDATE!!!

First photo: Jan. 1, 2019 — 192 pounds. This is me at present day after 18 months of lean bulking.

Second photo: March 18, 2017 — 190 pounds. This was me two years ago after my last bulk.

The difference is clear, and I couldn’t be more excited about it. I put a heavy emphasis on both being in a caloric surplus and eating quality foods, and the result is a ton of muscle mass and far less accumulation of body fat!

During my previous bulk, I had a very sloppy approach in retrospect. I was focused on protein and calories. That’s it. I wanted to hit my protein goal each day and hit a minimum calorie total. In the end, I built some strength and muscle, but I wasn’t optimizing the process. By the end of the previous bulk, my pants wouldn’t button. I had blown out my midsection and added far too much unnecessary body fat. On top of that, my training wasn’t nearly as consistent as it has been over the last year and-a-half.

This most recent bulk has been much different. I’ve focused on whole, quality foods. My diet consisted primarily of steak, chicken, lean beef, rice, vegetables, eggs, etc. My training was as focused and on point as it has ever been. The result was a drastically improved body composition and major gains on all of the major lifts (squat, bench press, deadlift).

Sure, I’ve added some body fat. That’s the nature of the bulking game — if you want to build muscle and/or strength, you’ve got to be in a calorie surplus. If you’re in a calorie surplus, you’re going to take on some body fat. The key is to dial in your diet in a focused and strategic way to fuel your workouts and fuel your progress.

Throughout this bulk, I’ve used the exact same strategies I use with my clients. I just decided to put my head down and hammer every rep, set, meal, etc. Today I woke up, stepped on the scale, took these photos, and was blown away by the progress.

This all speaks to what I preach on here and with my clients every day: Put a plan in place that is strategized to your goals, and chip away at it every single day.

Let’s CRUSH 2019!!!
