I generated positive momentum this weekend by making choices that made me feel good in the long term — not the short term.
Why do we choose to do what we know we’ll regret? Why do we eat or drink things that make us feel crappy?
Sure, there are some foods that taste awesome. They make you feel good for those moments during your meal, but hours later or the next day you regret what you ate. You feel slow, lethargic, etc.
Alcohol is fun, too. But does it make you better? You may have a really fun night, but the next day is a waste because you overindulged. The next 24-48 hours are negatively impacted because of a few hours spent out drinking.
I’m guilty of making those choices from time to time. We all should be allowed to let loose every so often. But it shouldn’t be the norm.
This weekend I held off in the name of training. I prioritized my training sessions with the decisions I made each day. And you know what? It was awesome.
Do things that make you better. Choose what you won’t regret. Actively pursue feeling great in the long term — not the short term.
