September 2024 Challenge
Fitness Challenge: Step Count
This month, we’re focusing on daily activity and competing as a group in a step count challenge. The challenge runs from Sept. 1-30, with a grand prize of a walk pad going to the winner!
This challenge is NOT solely designed to award the person with the highest total amount of steps. The goal is not to run your body into the ground for a prize.
Rather, this challenge is designed to help you find new and creative ways to move more throughout the day.
To help guide you in this challenge, I’ve set up some tiers to give you an idea of what is considered successful and unsuccessful…
- Tier 1: 0-7,499 steps per day (low).
- Tier 2: 7,500-11,999 steps per day (moderate).
- Tier 3: 12,000-16,000 steps per day (high).
- Research has found that the health benefits from consistent daily step counts seems to start at 7,500 per day, and increases somewhat linearly to 16,000 per day. That explains my rationale for these tiers.
I will send out a short questionnaire at the end of this challenge to poll your experience and get your thoughts and feedback on how you approached this challenge, as well as how you’ll implement the lessons you learned in this challenge to your everyday life moving forward.
- Your questionnaire responses will also be considered in picking a winner.
- You must submit a response to be considered for the grand prize.
- You’ll also be asked to provide data/screen shots of your step counts.
So let’s get to stepping and have a great month!
