The majority of my content is about health, fitness, training, nutrition, etc. Sometimes I like to focus on wellness topics, too, because your overall wellness can be a big factor that helps you reach your goals.
Finding time to be creative is something that has really helped me push forward in various aspects of my life — my fitness, health, business goals and more. This, like so many other things in life, has been a process of trial and error.
Essentially, I define “finding time to be creative” as identifying that time of day, or that time of week, that your mind is clear. It’s that time when you regularly feel ideas flowing and get surges of positivity and confidence.
Do we all have this? Maybe not. If you don’t, I’d suggest trying to proactively block out time to be free from distractions (work, chores, social media, etc.) to see how your mind reacts. That’s where the trial an error comes into play.
If you do have, or eventually find, these times of day, do your best to maximize them.
Personally, I find that Saturday morning after a good night’s sleep and with coffee in hand is my most productive time of the week. My mind is clear and my body feels refreshed. I normally try to start the day off working on something that inspires me, and from there my mind starts flowing with countless ideas.
I make sure to always have a pen and paper nearby so I can jot down a list of everything I think of. Before you know it, I’ve assembled a list of items that you could technically consider “work,” but it’s the kind of work you can’t wait to get started on.
Here’s a list I created in a recent “creativity session”:
- E-Book idea: “lifestyle dieting”
- New workout template
- AMRAP workout strategy
- Article ideas
- The problem with body fat percentage
- How many carbs should you be eating?
- The basics of protein timing
- Online video course on nutrition
- (This article)
As you know, I’m extremely motivated by health and fitness. It’s why I write these articles, share videos and coach people. Thus, my list generally revolves around topics/projects I can work on to help my coaching audience.
Your list will probably look extremely different, and that’s great!
Just try and set aside some time to be creative so you can really maximize your time with the things you’re most passionate about.
